Rare California Gold Rush letters and 1/2 plate Ambrotypes to be sold as one lot in October: Lot 1 details:The lot consists of 51 letters from Ephraim Cutting Murphy's Diggings, CA to Henry Cutting his brother in Boston & Chelsea, MA along with two half plate ambrotypes of the mines, ambrotypes of the miners and other assorted family letters found in an estate in Massachusetts. There are 4 correspondences spanning the years from Pre Gold Rush (St. Louis 1836 to New Orleans 1847) and then 47 letters spanning 1850 to 1873 from Murphy's to his brother in Chelsea, MA.
