20th Century Art & Design

Treadway/Toomey Galleries present their annual 20th Century Art & Design auction held at the John Toomey Galley in Oak Park, Illinois (9 miles west of downtown Chicago) on Sunday September 9th beginning at 10:00am CST. The three-session sale contains over 1100 lots. The first session will feature important Arts & Crafts and Art Nouveau furnishings from Gustav Stickley, such as a fine bow-armed Morris chair, Limbert and Roycroft; American and European ceramics by Grueby, Newcomb College, Rookwood, Amphora, and several remarkable Teco forms. The fine collection of art glass will feature Tiffany, including a rare 3-light lily lamp, Steuben, Lalique, Loetz, Webb and others. The second session of American and European paintings features fine works by such esteemed artists as Theodore Clement Steele, including two beautiful oil landscapes by Jane Peterson, Alexander Calder, several limited edition aquatints by Pablo Picasso, an Andy Warhol lithograph of Elizabeth Taylor, Jim Dine, and many more. The third session offers furniture, lighting, ceramics and decorative objects from well-known Mid Century and Modern designers such as Roland Smith, Paul McCobb, Harvey Probber, George Nelson, Charles and Ray Eames, Gaetanol Pesce, Raymond Loewy, Edward Wormley, Mies van der Rohe and others.
