Collector's Series: Judaica

Quinn?s Auction Galleries is honored to present an auction of Judaica including books, art, scrolls, and artifacts. The majority of these items are from the Estate of the distinguished Rabbi Joshua O. Haberman (1919-2017). Rabbi Haberman was born in pre-war Vienna, Austria. He was attending Vienna?s Jewish rabbinical seminary when WWII broke out, and he then left for the United States; he eventually served for 18 years as Rabbi for the Washington Hebrew Congregation. His collection includes a wide variety of books on Judaism, Jewish history, literature, theology, 19th German philosophy, and Hebrew prayer books. Along with a comprehensive selection on Jewish thought, the collection includes two seventeenth century bibles printed in Amsterdam, Chagall?s Illustrations from the Bible, and the first publication of an essay by Edmund Husserl (The Crisis of European Sciences ?). The collection also features devotional objects such as the Rabbi?s gragger, shofar, scroll of Esther, and two menorahs, as well as items from the Rabbi?s life of service to his community, including his desk and personal archive. We are also pleased to offer a selection of the Rabbi's artworks by artists such as Afroyim Soshana and Yaacov Agam. Among other items are an Eastern European Torah scroll, a Folio leaf from the first issue of the King James Bible (1611), and a variety of prints and paintings by Jewish artists including Caspar Mine and Yosi Stern.
