Jazz Reference Books, Ephemera and Records

*** PLEASE NOTE *** We are launching the first half of this auction on Friday, November 9th and will be launching the second half of the catalog on Monday, November 11th. The second half will include many important signed items including a book signed by 19 famous jazz musicians (such as Duke Ellington and Cab Calloway) and a 78rpm record set signed by Count Basie and members of his orchestra. This auction is the second auction of three, during which we will sell approximately 5,000 jazz-related books with some selected 78rpm record additions and other vinyl. The books are from the collection of California dealer Arthur Newman who sold jazz reference materials and albums for over 40 years. Approximately 2/3 of the collection includes his retail inventory while the balance was has personal reference library. Many discographies, important volumes and signatures are included. The second half will also include some important violin reference books from another consignment and a number of interesting and important other books and groups from area estates and consignments.
