Fine and Antique Jewelry Auction

The Rago Arts and Auction Center proudly presents the Third Annual Antique and Fine Jewelry Auction on December 5, 2004 at 6 p.m. Under the direction of Sarah Churgin, Jewelry Specialist, the auction will feature approximately 300 lots of rare and extraordinary pieces from private collections including all periods from Antiquity to Modern with works from Tiffany, Asprey, Jensen, Marcus, Cartier and others. A highlight of the auction is an 18 ct. brooch with a faceted oval citrine that is framed by yellow 'piquea jour' enamel designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany. Also featured are an unusual and rare pair of mid-19th century micromosaic cufflinks. These stunning cufflinks are distinctive in that there are four different engraved images, one on each end of the cufflink. On one side is the image of a fox, another is a hawk, yet another a dog and finally an eagle. Other impressive offerings include: a Bypass Ring consisting of two fine crystal black opals having rose diamond surrounds; cultured pearls (9-10 mm) with diamond clasp; a 20 ct. Aquamarine ring flanked by diamonds; a fur clip with diamonds; sapphires and aquamarines in three-toned 14K gold; a Georg Jensen brooch in a grape cluster motif; a 14K gold plume brooch with rubies and a canary diamond; an unusual pair of Cartier Patent cufflinks with 18K- accents and leather with lapis; a stunning diamond, aquamarine and onyx line bracelet by Marcus; sodalite and seed pearl ear pendants; a sterling and glass link bracelet by Cahoone & Company; and an amethyst necklace in silver. Another highlight is a large selection of silver produced for Jensen USA in the 1940's. The rare selection being offered is from the workshop of Walter J. Meyer (1912-1978) and features marks for LaPaglia, Meyer and Jensen USA. This collection represents incredible designs and craftsmanship. It is extremely likely that many of the lots offered have never been in circulation. Previews of the auction will be held at Rago Arts and Auction Center at 333 North Main Street, Lambertville, New Jersey, from November 29 through December 2 from 12 - 5 p.m., December 3 from 12-4 p.m., and on December 4-5 from 9-12 noon. Bid live, by phone, absentee, or online through www.ebayliveauctions.com. For more information call 609-397-9374 or email at info@ragoarts.com. Catalogs are available for $25.
