Modern Art & Design + Urban Culture Auctions
Our February 8, 2020 auction will feature 550+ lots of modern art and design from the most collected artists and designers of the 20th Century. The auction will be presented in three sessions:
I - Important Modern Art & Design (Lots 1-224)
II - Important Prints & Photographs (Lots 225-335)
III - Urban & Pop Culture (Lots 336-563)
Session I noteworthy lots include paintings by Ray Parker (40), Shusaku Arakawa (105), Albert Gleizes (149) and sculpture by Arman (43), Louise Nevelson (44), Luis Tomasello (108), and Lynn Chadwick (115), as well as a collection of Lalanne accessories (116-118), a large Claude Conover Vessel (175a) and the complete Christian Zervos Picasso Catalogue Raisonne, 34 Vol. (119). Don't miss the nine outstanding pieces of Picasso pottery, including a monumental "Tarasque" jug and a uniquely glazed "Tete de Taureau" plate (121-129).
Session II features a Tom Wesselmann "Steel Drawing" (235), a large Joan Miro etching/aquatint (237) and a Karel Appel sculpture (355), as well as editions by Fairfield Porter, Alex Katz, Richard Serra, Pablo Picasso. Photography highlights include a collection of photos of Frida Kahlo along with iconic images by Annie Leibovitz and fashion photographer Steven Klein.
Presented in conjunction with Urban Culture Auctions, Session III features a Keith Haring Drawing, signed with Foundation stamp (336), a collection of early Richard Bosman paintings (326-335), and an Andy Warhol blotted line drawing (339).
