1985 Schmiedlin Widgeon Drake
We are honored and to bring this fantastic Decoy to Auction on behalf of Debra Schmiedlin.
This 1985 drake widgeon is being donated from the SCHMIEDLIN PRIVATE COLLECTION of Debra Schmiedlin, the wife of the late Jim Schmiedlin in his honor and memory for the benefit of JIM'S JOURNEY ALS 2020 AUCTION
This widgeon served as a loyal decoy as part of Jim's hunting rig in Lake Chatauqua, NY, Erie, PA as well as Pymatuming, PA since 1985. In true Jim fashion a brief history of this bird is documented on the bottom.
ALL proceeds from this auction will be donated to THE PITTSBURGH FOUNDATION an organization dear to the Schmiedlin family. This foundation provides care, comfort and financial support to families dealing with ALS as well as research at finding a cure. Approximately 5,000 people in the US are diagnosed with ALS each year & 16,000 americans may be living with ALS at any given time. Veterans are 1.5-2 times more likely to be diagnosed with ALS, Jim was a Navy Veteran proud to have served his country.
Jim passed away in 2015 from ALS (amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. Debra is grateful to Jim's many loyal friends, collectors and fellow carvers for their continued support and generosity in her endeavor to raise money for families living with this terrible disease.
