Modern Prints, Posters and Photographs

Quinn's Auction Galleries is pleased to present an auction of Modern Prints, Posters and Photographs. On offer are Modern and Contemporary American, European and Japanese Prints, representing the work of artists including Picasso and Matisse, as well as those from the DC Metro area such as Werner Drewes, Jack Perlmutter, and Kathleen Spagnolo. Graphic arts are well represented by a large group of prints and posters published by Serigrafia, including the complete Alphabet Series and there is a strong showing by women artists led by Mary Cassatt and Marie Laurencin. Early 20th century costume designs by Barbier, Erte, and Brunelleschi also feature prominently. Photographs in the auction include a number of portraits by famous artists such as Man Ray, and of famous artists such as Cocteau, Leger, O'Keefe, and others. A selection of Esther Bubley's work is also featured; a prolific photographer of the mid 20th century, she worked on campaigns for LIFE Magazine, Pepsi Cola Inc, and the Standard Oil Company, bringing art to the commercial world. Last but not least are Posters. We have iconic images from the First World War, the Art Deco era, including the stunning Cappiello Cognac Monet poster from 1927, and from the 1960s. Artist's posters include Chagalls and works by Hockney and Lichtenstein.
