2 Collections: American Indian and High Fashion

This auction represents 2 distinct aspects of a single vendor's valuable private collections. The vendors brought their collections to New Zealand and have provided us with an unparalleled opportunity to acquire these sought after treasures.

The first half consists of over 200 lots of Native American cultural pieces " fetishes, jewellery, accessories, art, pottery, etc. The pieces are all of exceptional quality. They were almost all purchased from a gallery in Sydney and most are accompanied by either valuations or identification documentation. Many are from the 1930s and 1940s, while some are the work of well regarded contemporary artisans. Many pieces are of museum quality.

Between the 2 collections we will offer for auction a very rare Michael Price, California style, ring grip dagger made in the 19th Century.

The second half of the auction consists of a unique collection of over 100 lots of fashion accessories, clothing and jewellery from some of the world's fashion houses, notably Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Cartier and others, along with other items from these discerning collectors. Almost all of the collection was purchased from official outlets in Australia and most items have never been used. Purchased about 3-6 years ago, the collection includes handbags, scarves, exquisite jewellery, clothing, textile items, etc.

Although the auction will take place in Dunedin " a gem of a city in the South Island of New Zealand " its market is clearly a wider one than the local one. We welcome inquiries from wherever and are happy to provide further information about particular items, extra images, etc.
