American HIstorical Memorabilia & Antiques

This American Historical Memorabilia and Antique Auction will be held February 5, 2005, online and in Florence, Kentucky. This auction features the largest known finding of items which belonged to notorious Old West outlaws Frank and Jesse James and their families, as well as a signed photograph of W. H. Bonney, aka Billy the Kid, and also items pertaining to historical figures such as: Abraham Lincoln, John Wilkes Booth, Harriet B. Stowe, and William Quantrill.

Historical accounts of the James family leads one to think Missouri was their place of origin. However, their roots extended from Kentucky in areas of Logan, Woodford, and Scott Counties. The Cole, Younger, Lindsey and James families all had ties to Kentucky. James Madison Lindsey was a Judge in Scott County, Kentucky, and raised Frank and Jesse's Mother, Zerelda, after she became a ward of the court. His old home place still stands on the Locust Fork Pike, and is where Jesse’s trunk and personal artifacts were discovered.

In 1827, Zerelda attended St. Catherine’s School in Lexington, Kentucky. She also attended the Stamping Grounds Baptist Church, where she met Robert Sallee James of Russelville, Kentucky, a ministerial student at Georgetown College. On December 28, 1841, at Judge Lindsey’s home, Robert and Zerelda were married.

The items discovered at this farm, as well as an invitation from Abraham Lincoln to John Wilkes Booth, verified in 1970 by J. Edgar Hoover, and other extraoridinary items from the Civil War, are accompanied by a variety of American antiques in this sale. Each item availble in this auction had been hidden away for many years. They hold the answers to what history has questioned for so long.
