Spring Militaria Auction

Cowan's Auctions is pleased to offer for sale items from the Art Bedner collection and a collection directly from the descendants of General Thomas H. Ruger. These two collections are being sold in sequence in the catalogue. Lots 14-33 relate to General Thomas H. Ruger and lots 34-81 relate to the Art Bedner collection. Cowan's Auctions is also pleased to offer numerous other fine items from various collections throughout the country. Highlights include: colonial-era powder horns; an unusual Mexican War sword presented to two men from the 2nd Pennsylvania Volunteers; an untouched Colt Army presented to General Thomas Ruger when he was Superintendent of West Point, as well as a Civil War presentation sword given to Ruger from the 3rd Wisconsin Volunteers, and three other swords belonging to the General; an archive from a member of Piatt's Zouaves, plus many other Civil War accoutrements and GAR souvenirs; Indian Wars uniforms, medals and headgear; two stained glass windows from the Smith & Wesson Factory; an archive of a "Rough Rider" and WWI "Doughboy," including his uniform; several Polar Bear uniform parts and patches; 27 pieces of formal silver tableware "liberated" from Hitler's "Eagle's Nest" by an American soldier; plus many knives, swords, and curio firearms and more. Watch for additional items from the Ruger collection in our Historic Americana sale in late June 2009.
