American Folk & Decorative Arts: Session II

Cowan's, A Hindman Company, American Furniture, Folk and Decorative Arts auction will feature two sessions. The first session on Tuesday, March 9th will include Lots 1-411. This auction will feature two single-owner sessions, Property from the Collection of Paul M. Bentley, Oostburg, Wisconsin (Lots 1-56) and Property from the Estate of James A. Sanders, Evansville, Indiana (Lots 152-318), along with early American furniture, portraits, folk art, circus toys, stoneware, glazed pottery, weathervanes, textiles, match dispensers and advertising from various consignors. Session II on March 10th includes Lots 412-824, and will feature Property of the late Karen Tosterud, Bellaire, Michigan (Lots 412-542). The session will also include stoneware, furniture, folk art, paintings, samplers, silhouette portraits and coin silver from various consignors. Other notable highlights include Alonzo Chappel?s (1828-1887) Washington at the Battle of Princeton, from the Collection of Noel and Kathryn Wadsworth, Atlanta, Georgia; a large portrait of a boy in red by Joseph Whiting Stock; a Federal grain-paint decorated tall case and a highly figured tiger maple slant-front desk, from the Collection of Mark and Patricia McGrath, Chicago, Illinois. Both sessions will include the option to bid live online, via the phone or absentee.
