Antiquities, European Art, Early Islamic

For our upcoming Late Winter Auction, Artoptima is offering selections from the life-time collections of several notable persons: a university professor, a restorer/conservator of Art with many years of experience with Museums and important private collections, as well as a well-known collector who has sponsored several widely praised exhibitions. Among the important offerings in our sale, we are proud to have included a fine Old Master Painting attributed to Anthony van Dyck (or a painter in the studio of Peter Paul Rubens), an Italian Early Renaissance terra cotta bust of Jesus Christ and several noteworthy Hellenistic and Egyptian ancient objects. Included in this auction are fine pieces, such as an interesting bronze of Bes and two Hellenistic exceptional small size bronze figures of children or Erotes, three good Ancient Egyptian miniature stone vessels, a large Greek Late Bronze Age jar from Cyprus and other interesting relatively seldom seen cultural and artistic artifacts. Finally, we offer to our bidders a now scarce album of original watercolors illustrative of Characters in Ottoman Period Constantinople. We believe that collectors and persons interested in the physical manifestations of art and the artifacts bequeathed to us by human history all over the world, will find plenty of objects of interest in this auction sale. At Artoptima we always endeavor to offer interesting and mind-enriching objects. It is our hope that our buyers will see and appreciate these objects just as the collectors who recognized, loved, and preserved them in the recent past.
