Native American Art

In Los Angeles on 29 June, Bonhams will offer a curated selection of fresh-to-the-market Native American Art from private collectors across the United States and beyond. The auction comprises a selection of excellent historic Northwest Coast art and objects, including: a grouping of bracelets from the Collection of Dr. Marvin and Mrs. Natalie Gliedman of New York; a handsome Tsimshian soul catcher from a private Chicago collection; and a rarely seen, elegantly carved frog effigy tobacco mortar collected by an Englishman residing in British Columbia in the early 20th century. Also making their way to the block are a grouping of Navajo weavings previously held in the collection of famed singer Andy Williams, most of which are being sold to benefit the acquisition fund of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.
