Property of The Estate of Mrs Charles R. Wood

We are privileged to have been commissioned to sell the contents of the home of the late Mrs. Charles R. Wood. Her collections comprise a truly exceptional assortment of the finest 20th century art, decorations, couture and accessories. Highlights of the auction include a unique George Rickey kinetic sculpture, a Robert Rauchenberg vegetable dye transfer print, a Joan Miro etching & aquatint ?Le Permissionaire?, 26 lots of jewelry by Jean Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co including ?Bird on a Rock? and ?Poissons? an Enamel Diamond Double Fish Clip, several important examples of fine jewelry (8 lots) by David Webb, including an uncommon 18k, Platinum and diamond Greek Key necklace & earrings suite, a magnificent Harry Winston turquoise and diamond necklace, and a very good GIA certified 10.7 carat solitaire diamond ring. A 20th century classic, Josie Beckos Wood and her second husband Charles R. Wood lived the American dream. As the children of good people who had worked to make a life for themselves in the early 20th century United States, they had grit, and principles, and were not afraid of hard work. Mr. and Mrs. Wood achieved exceptional success in their respective careers with creativity, a sense of fun, and perseverance. They helped establish the Double H Ranch with Paul Newman, and were ardent supporters of The Hyde Collection and The Glens Falls Symphony. They were enthusiastic collectors of fine art and furnishings. Together, Mr and Mrs. Wood assembled a significant collection of important 20th century American jewelry. We are pleased to have been chosen to disperse the collections of the late Mrs. Wood. The furnishings, decorations, couture and accessories will be offered at an estate sale on July 23rd, 24th, and 25th, 2021 in Queensbury, New York. The fine jewelry, artwork and finer couture and accessories will be sold at a live auction with internet and absentee bidding only on July 31st, 2021.
