In November, 2009, Joanne Grant, principal auctioneer at Mid-Hudson Auction Galleries , announced the acquisition of THE GENE ANDREWSKI COLLECTION OF CINEMA for several auctions. The first auction took place on Dec. 5th 2009. The second auction was held on Valentine's Day, the third auction on March 6th, and the fourth sale on April 17th, 2010. The entire collection is being sold without reserve or minimum bids making this series of sales almost unprecedented in the industry. The Andrewski collection consists of more than 20,000 items. Among the portraits of Hollywood Glamour Era actresses are several by Hurrell, Clarence Sinclair Bull, Elmer Fryer, Ernest Bachrach, Ray Jones, Willinger and other noted photographers. A substantial autograph collection is to be presented including inscribed photos, double stock and single weight as well as signed letters, contracts, scripts and other movie memorabilia. The 20's, 30's and 40's of Hollywood cinema are strongly represented in the Andrewski auctions. The next scheduled auction will be on June 26th at 2PM: The Gene Andrewski Collection of Cinema - Part VI and introducing The Buddy McDaniel Collection of Cinema.
