Fine Antiques Auction

We have been commissioned to sell the extensive collection of United States Navy retired surgeon Dr. Harold Streit and his wife Elizabeth Streit of Gilford, New Hampshire. The Streits began collecting during Dr. Streit's 30 year tour in the Navy, where they were stationed in both Europe and Japan. Over the years, they were able to put together an impressive collection of Asian art as well as other fine art, decorations and furnishings. We will also be offering a wonderful collection that has been passed down through the family of Emmett J. Flavin, who married Amy K. Condit (daughter of the American Revolution whose family was land granted and came over to Philadelphia from England in the 1600s). Flavin was the chief civil engineer of Cook County, Illinois and Chicago; he was the first to design naturalistic zoos, which were built in Rotterdam and Berlin in the 1920s. Much of the collection was acquired during his travels overseas to Hong Kong, Japan and India in the 1920s. Additionally, we will be offering a fabulous collection of crystal Steuben glass from the collection of James Shulman. An important Asian Art auction on the first day, and a lovely offering of fine arts and antiques on the second day; an impressive collection not to be missed!
