Americana / Pacific Trade

Doyle will hold an auction of American Furniture, Silver & Decorative Arts on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 10am. The sale showcases fine American furniture and decorative arts, including silver, ceramics, mirrors, folk art, samplers and rugs. Beginning the auction is Pacific Trade, which will showcase a range of property from prominent estates and distinguished collections, including Chinese export porcelain, paintings, furniture and decorative art, Japanese and Southeast Asian art and much more. Highlighting American Furniture, Silver & Decorative Arts is Paul Revere silver from The Monroe and Elizabeth Dreher Collection. Monroe Dreher (1889-1970) was the driving force behind this collection of Paul Revere prints and silver; the majority of these pieces have remained unseen for nearly 70 years. Many of the works had descended within the original families and Dreher was fastidious about recording the provenance of these pieces. Like many passionate collectors of American antiques in the 1940s and 50s, Dreher outfitted his Connecticut residence as near period rooms. The collection was featured in The Magazine Antiques in 1954. An important engraving from 1770 by Paul Revere
