The American Scene

Cowan's Auctions presents The American Scene, an auction of American antiques, decorative arts, fine art, and folk art from the 18th to the 20th centuries.

Highlights of the auction include an oil on canvas by Cincinnati native Dixie Selden, titled The Pottery Vendor, that can be considered the finest Selden work extant. A portrait by Kentucky artist James Thomas Poindexter will be offered, along with an 1887 Hudson River School landscape.

The auction features a significant collection of Shaker items, including everything from a clothes press to baskets.
