The Auction begins at 9:00 a.m. Pacific, 10:00 a.m. Mountain & Noon New York time Wednesday December 1, 2021. Astoundingly beautiful bright Edward S. Curtis Copper Plates have sold privately for over $700.000.00. 100 of these Unique photographic objects are the center of this auction. Also offered are Vintage Photogravures from The North American Indian-lavishly printed positive companion prints to the Copper Plate negatives being offered. There is a small selection of original Curtis platinum & silver prints & 29 large proof photogravures. Also offered is small group of important photographs of the American Indian - an 1850s daguerreotype & melainotype, Delegation photographs by Julian Vannerson (salt print), A. Zeno Shindler, Alexander Gardner (from the 1868 Ft. Laramie Peace Treaty); Charles M. Bell's masterpiece mammoth plate of Sioux Chiefs 3 months after Wounded Knee. There are vintage prints of the American Indian by Gertrude Kasebier, Adam Clark Vroman, Laura Gilpin & Ansel Adams. The auction has a sampling of Curtis' masterpieces with portraits, architectural, landscape, ceremonial, storytelling & still life views.
