Curtis, Nell Dorr, Kusakabe Kimbei, Nathan Lyons, Ralph Eugene Meatyard, Man Ray, Herb Ritts, George Seeley, Carleton E. Watkins, and Weegee. Among the contemporary photo stars whose work will go on the block are Andrew Borowiec, Marilyn Bridges, Lucien Clergue, Larry Fink, David Graham, Lois Greenfield, Chip Hooper, Henry Horenstein, Michael Kenna, David Maisel, Rania Matar, Joe Mills, Jeffrey Milstein, Lori Nix, Bill Owens, Lynn Saville, Jack Spencer, Maggie Taylor, George Tice, Jonathan Torgovnik, Jerry N. There are photographs of both FDR and Harry Truman throwing out the first pitch of the baseball season, as well as prints of several Pulitzer Prize-winning photographs, among them John Filo's searing 1970 photo of the Kent State shootings, Yasushi Nagao's picture of the assassination of a Japanese Nationalist leader, and Kyoichi Sawada's image of a fleeing Vietnamese family. In addition, a broad range of 19th-century photographs is up for bid. Proceeds from the auction, a popular event since 1983, fund such activities as an annual juried competition for emerging photographers. Admission is free with purchase of the fully illustrated catalog, available through The Photo Review, 215-891-0214. Founded in 1976, The Photo Review is a critical journal of photography that covers events around the world and serves as a central resource for the Mid-Atlantic region. The quarterly journal contains reviews, portfolios, interviews, book reviews, and news, while the companion newsletter, issued eight times a year, contains the most complete exhibition listings from New York to Washington, and exhibition opportunities and news from around the world.
