Pook's Decorative Arts Sale - Session 2
Noteworthy Asian art & objects will be the focus of both sale days. Rose medallion, Canton, carved jades & ivories, Imari, etc. make up the mix. Russian porcelain & enamelware will also tempt buyers. Many buyers will also find interest in the large coin collection. The over 1000 coins include 4 Wells Fargo $20 1908 gold pieces, 58 Swiss gold 20 Franc coins, St. Gaudens and Standing Liberty $20 gold coins & other $5, $10 & $20 gold coins, many in XF condition. Over 200 lots of fine art, printed material, and sculpture from various artists will cross the auction block. A group of early engraved maps highlight the printed category together with WW1 posters, engravings, etc. The sale will feature a variety of clocks & music boxes. Two Steinway grand pianos from a PA Educational Institution will be offered in the Friday session. There are also dozens of toys to choose from including a selection of mechanical banks, board games, pull toys, dolls & doll furniture. If you need a bright quilt or coverlet to adorn your antique bed, there are lots of choices. How about an early sampler to hang above the bed or a vibrant hooked rug for the floor? Items for your kitchen include a massive burl bowl, a Nantucket basket, butterprints or a large mortar and pestle. For the table, an impressive collection of flow blue Chapoo pattern china or a set of twelve KPM reticulated porcelain dinner plates or a Dresden dinner service has approximately 134 pieces. Put your flowers in a Chinese double gourd vase or a Toby pitcher and serve tea in a Roseville zephyr lily tea service. All these items can be found at this auction. Finally, storage cupboards of all different styles & sizes abound from corner cupboards & pie safes to drysinks & chests of drawers. A Kittinger 2-pedestal mahogany dining table will garner interest together with a set of ten Baker Chippendale style mahogany dining chairs and a Mission oak sideboard and many other pieces of fine furniture.
