The English Interior
STAIR
This season?s The English Interior sale brings together all that we love about classic English style and its layered, well-lived-in look, whether it be in town or in the country. Included in the sale are furniture, fine art and decorative objects that span nearly three-hundred years of English and European design. A fine collection of equestrian art by John Nost Sartorius, John Frederick Herring Jr. and Sr., and Frank Paton from the Estate of Don F. Gaston, Greenwich, CT highlight the fine art offerings, complemented by quintessential English country house paintings by Walter Hunt, John E. Ferneley Jr. and English School portraits. Also included is a selection of paintings of pugs by the anglophile American painter Henry Koehler.
Highlights are rounded out by a small group of late 17th and early 18th century Georgian furniture and capped off by a sumptuous George the IV mulberry center table. Other decorations and carpets will be sold in this sale.
