Petroliana & Railroadiana | Byway Collection

Join us for our June 18th auction of The Joe Byway Collection of Petroliana, Railroadiana & Advertising. Joe's private museum, The Valleyview Railway Museum of Thamesford, Ontario was curated by three generations of caretakers. Joe?s Grandfather, George Byway was a CNR Engineer. Joe?s Father, Arthur (Arch) Byway was a CNR Constable who saw the beauty and value in ?old junk? years before collecting became a popular hobby. Joe continued the stewardship of his Father?s collection of railroadiana, while continuing to procure automobilia and petroliana as it became available. Joe built on what Arch had started, sharing his father?s passion for preserving history. One of Joe?s greatest joys in life was finding something new for his museum. We are excited to offer The Joe Byway Collection to the next generation of collectors. Railroadiana includes signs, lithographs, lanterns, and other historical objects from Grand Trunk Railway (GTR), Canadian National Railway (CNR) and Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR). Petroliana and Automobila includes signs and tins from Red Indian, White Rose, B/A, Texaco, Sunoco, Imperial Oil, General Motors, Dominion Royal among others. The sale also includes Joe?s prized vehicles: 1959 Chevrolet Corvette, 1937 Ford Model 78 Deluxe Convertible Sedan and 1972 GMC 1500 Custom Pickup.
