Two-Day Estate Auction

This comprehensive Auction sale will include furniture represented by virtually every major style and country, including the Louis XV, Louis XVI and Empire styles of France; the Sheraton, Regency, Georgian, Victorian, Chippendale styles of England, including an extremely fine bronze mounted marquetry inlaid burled walnut and rosewood parlour table signed Jewel, Holborn, London; a variety American furniture is also featured, including a set of 6 Victorian rococo revival mahogany dining chairs, circa 1870 and a good set of 8 19th century oversize golden oak pressback bentwood detailed armchairs, as well as several chinoiserie decorated pieces. Showcased will be an excellent array of 18th, 19th and 20th century paintings, watercolors, drawings, lithographs and other fine art, including works by Norman Rockwell, Dorothy Hood, George Cole, George Arthur Teed, Rene Jouhan, H. Schemer (two works by this artist will be included), R. Warren Vernon and Gaetano Gandolfi – his works appear in many museums, including the National Gallery and the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art - together with a selection of 19th century Russian icons. Also featured is a fine selection of marble and bronze sculpture, including a well-modeled 19th century 49 inch bronze figure of Hermes, a large (115 inches tall) multi-patinated bronze life-size garden group of two acrobatic youths and a superb French art deco gilded and painted metal bird figured group on a marble and slate base. Also included will be Baccarat crystal, including a 22 piece stemware and barware set, an excellent group of Oriental porcelains, including a good pair of late 18th/early 19th century circular jardinières mounted on wood stands, a fine 19th century pair of Imperial yellow Peking glass baluster form vase lamps and a large superbly detailed iron red decorated Chinese Export porcelain18-1/2 inch diameter bowl, circa 1800. Additionally featured are selections of china, crystal, sterling silver and silverplate, mirrors, chandeliers, sconces, including a good pair of finely cast 19th century Louis XVI style gilt bronze three-light examples, candelabra, including a Louis XV style bronze dore’ putti figured 5-light candelabrum on a rouge royale marble base, circa 1870, and a large 19th century pair of Renaissance style gilt bronze candelabra lamps; clocks, including an exceptional 19th century French bronze dore’ putti figured table clock and jewelry cabinet - and a collection of estate and designer jewelry. Finally, a wonderful selection of estate and new Oriental rugs and tapestries will also be included.
