Autumn Majestic 2022 - Day 2
On Saturday, we present paintings by Louis Remy Mignot, Cundo Bermudez, Rene Portocarrero, David Johnson, Asher Brown Durand, John F. Francis, Samuel Walters, Maurice Quentin De La Tour, Alexandre Calame, and many others. Featured will be Chinese Ming Dynasty period polychromed wooden Lady Guanyin Bodhisattva figure, a standing Tang Dynasty sancai glazed ceramic tomb figure, and 130 other lots of Chinese artifacts. Leading the folk art category is an ink drawing on 78-record sleeve by outsider artist Bill Traylor, and an American Federal period architectural gilt eagle. On this day, an excellent group of rare documents will be presented, such as a 1783 George Washington signed furlough for New York artillery man Sgt. Elijah Price, and an 1804 ship?s passage signed by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison; plus a group of ancient artifacts including Egyptian mummy masks and early terracotta pieces. Antique furniture to be presented will include a Gothic period Continental paint decorated black walnut hunt chest or sword coffer, an 18th c. Philadelphia mahogany serpentine chest, and 7 early tall clocks. The marine selection will include 12 lots of scrimshaw, 4 sailor?s valentines, and 9 ship models. Rounding out the day will be tea caddies, weathervanes, early porcelain and silver, musical instruments, samplers, and oriental carpets.
