Tribal Art, Design, Old and Modern Masters

This auction will offer a Belgian collection of the kind Native likes to show: a mix of ethnic art, exclusive design, and contemporary art (lots 001 - 051). The offer is further complemented by a selection of works from other collections. Among the highlights will be an impressive boli figure that belonged to Jacques Kerchache, and an important Kongo figure that was previously in the collection of Bill and Ann Ziff. In terms of design, included in the sale is a fine ensemble of Scandinavian art with several pieces by Poul Kjærholm, including the extremely rare PK56 table, as well as a unique lamp by Tapio Wirkkala, and three unique pieces in lacquer by Marcel Wolfers (lots 052 - 055 ? 082). A notable outsider in the auction is a 16th-century painting from the former Walraff Ritchartz collection depicting the Triumph of Time. For the modern and contemporary art section, we present an ensemble of kinetic art and Op Art, including outstanding reliefs by Luis Tomasello, Pol Bury, and Antonio Asis, and a sculpture by Hugo Demarco from the former ACEC collection.
