Fine and Decorative Interiors features over 250 lots covering a diverse range of collecting categories dating from the 17th century through to the present day.
The sale includes a number of interesting oils depicting a wide variety of subjects, lot 22, Bamboccianti School, 18th century, is a fine panorama landscape oil on canvas in which figures work and rest with their livestock alongside classical ruins with a dramatic mountain visible in the distance (est. £800-1,200 +fees). Lot 106, Circle of Sir Godfrey Kneller (1646-1723) is a large intimate portrait group of Henry Somerset, 2nd Duke of Beaufort, (1684-1714) with three of his associates. Despite his short life the Duke was married three times, and in the first year of her reign, 1702, he entertained Queen Anne in splendid style at Badminton. Lot 112, Clachanach, Iona, a bright and energetic oil on panel by Stephen Bone (1904-1958), is dated 1925, the year in which Bone won a gold medal for wood engraving at the highly influential International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts, held in Paris.
From an assortment of 18th and 19th century longcase and table clocks, lot 67 is a late 18th century mahogany longcase clock by William Warren London (est. £500-700 +fees) and lot 68, a second quarter 18th century ebony veneered table clock signed William Lee Leicester (est. £700-1,000 +fees).
The auction also offers lighting, mirrors, maps and etchings, rugs and carpets, glass and silver as well as objects and ceramics from India, South East Asia and China ? from these, lot 236 is a fine small Chinese carved jade cup (est. £400-600 +fees) and lot 243 a striking 19th century Qing Dynasty turquoise bottle of bulbous form (est. £250-350 +fees).
Another auction highlight is lot 122, a maquette in cast lead for the Ascension of Christ, 1958-59, created by the American-British artist Jacob Epstein (1880-1959) and mounted on perspex, (est. £4,000-6,000 +fees).
