Music Dance and Theater
This auction includes a collection of handmade drawings, paintings and prints inspired by music, dance and theater, ranging from the 1750s to the mid-20th century. The artworks feature portraits of actors, dancers, musicians and exquisite musical instruments in artistic styles ranging from Rococo, Neoclassicism, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau and Art Deco to Soviet Social Realism.
Jean-Baptiste Jacques Augustin - Studio´s "Lady Playing Harp" painted ca. 1800 will be among the objects auctioned on Wednesday October 18, 2023. The small portrait depicts a young aristocratic lady playing the harp on the terrace of her palazzo. The harp depicted on this miniature still exists! It is one of the objects of the Victor Saivi Collection, Museo dell'Arpa in the Italian municipality of Piasco, Piedmont. It is a creation of the Parisian harp master Jean Naderman, who made it in 1783. Moreover, it was loaned for the famous film (2006) "Marie Antoinette" by celebrated director Sofia Coppola, with Kirsten Dunst.
