DuMouchelles continues thea November Auctions with over 500 lots to be offered on Day 2, held Friday November 17th at 11AM EST. This auction showcases a diverse array of fine art, decorative arts, jewelry and more from distinguished Michigan estates.
Fine art highlights include oil paintings by acclaimed artists Richard Mayhew and Hughie Lee-Smith, known for their modernist styles. Sculptures by American sculptor Marshall Fredericks and Cuban-American sculptor Manuel Carbonell will also be featured. Exceptional examples of art glass range from coveted Tiffany Studios pieces to works by Galle, Daum, and Loetz. Ceramics are well-represented by pottery from Rookwood, Weller, and the historic Pewabic Pottery studio in Detroit.
Also featured are modern chairs customized by Detroit artists as part of the LoveITDetroit project for the Detroit Month of Design. These imaginative chairs give a contemporary twist to Philippe Starck's iconic Ghost Chair for Kartell. Sales proceeds will benefit various local nonprofits.
Jewelry offerings span antique to modern, with both fine and costume pieces. Asian arts highlights encompass carved jades, bronzes, and textiles. Books and manuscripts include illuminated medieval works alongside editions illustrated by Arthur Rackham.
