August Asian Art and Antiques

Featured in this sale are a varied collection of paintings, fine furniture and exquisite porcelain. Highlights include an outstanding antique China trade silver candlestick, inlaid with coral, turquoise and ivory and decorated with a magnficent coiled dragon base, a wonderfully detailed painting of Hong Kong Harbor by Brian Coole, a fully intact Rhino horn from the 19th century and a pair of exceptionally carved pale green jade incense holders, covered with an intricate tree and house design. Chinese porcelain for sale includes an excellent blue and white stylized phoenix design Qianlong period dish. A large Chinese brushpot crafted out of huanghuali wood with auspicious carvings, and a large seated jade horse are amongst some of the more unusual pieces up for auction this August. Japanese ivory and bone craft is represented by more than 20 lots of netuskes, and an impressive large carved boat in full sail.
