British and Continental Silver

Day 1 of 3 of our Collectors 3-Day Auction Event. This silver auction features a wide array of British and Continental silver pieces spanning from the 1700s to the mid 20th century. Highlights are George II and III, Victorian, and Edwardian tankards, flagons, jugs, tea and coffee wares, flatware, and serving pieces by makers such as the Bateman family, William Eley I, William Fearn, William Chawner, Isaac D'Olier, Richard Gosling, Ebenezer Coker, Martin, Hall and Co., Saunders and Shepherd, and many others. Also included are berry spoons and Old Sheffield plate tablewares. Later and modern pieces in the auction comprise a 1930s British sterling silver tea and coffee service, an Italian sterling silver minaudiere, a 1958 Eigil Jensen for Anton Michelsen Danish enameled sterling silver Bowl, and a Christofle fish service. The Continental selections include a late18th - early 19th century French chocolate pot, a Vienna Secessionist 800 silver Austrian silver hammered bowl by Vincenz Carl Dub, an Alexandre Vaguer sterling silver mesh purse, and mid 20th century Italian silver platters, plates, and bowls. There is also an extensive Italian 800 silver flatware service made by Clementi, which later merged with Buccellati, that includes serving pieces and 197 total pieces contained in a custom storage case. There are also Dutch, German and Austro-Hungarian items like Apostle spoons and plique-a-jour spoons. This auction presents collectors an opportunity to purchase antique British sterling as well as Continental silver pieces spanning over two centuries. The breadth of pieces provides options for collectors of Georgian and Victorian silver as well as later Continental Mid-Century pieces.
