September Thursday Morning at Stair features a traditional mix of fine art, furniture, porcelain, silver and Asian Works of Art. Highlights include Maritime artworks and porcelain spanning from the Far East to the West. We are pleased to offer The Estate of Carolyn P. Amory, Property of a Private Millbrook Collector, Property of a Watch Hill, Rhode Island Collector and Property from the Schenck Collection, a Prominent Founding New York Family. Jan Martense Schenck arrived in New York with his family from the Netherlands as a ten-year-old boy in 1650, bringing with them treasured possessions from the Old World. The Schenck Family grew and acquired family heirlooms over subsequent generations, forming a collection which illustrates the family lore. Their 1676 residence is preserved in the Brooklyn Museum and is the oldest architecture in the Museum's period room collection. The house originally stood in the town of Flatlands, which is now part of the borough of Brooklyn.
