Early 20th C. Decorative Arts: Saturday, March 2nd at 11 AM Art Pottery, Furniture, Art Glass, Metalwork and prints in 400 lots: Ceramics by Teco, Tiffany, Charles Binns, Newcomb College and Rookwood, plus an exceptional selection of grotesque tobacco jars by the Martin Brothers, work by the Mad Potter of Biloxi, George Ohr, including a special collection from author Robert Ellison. Exceptional examples by Marblehead, Grueby, Taxile Doat, and Frederick Hurten Rhead. Furniture by Gustav Stickley, Charles Rohlfs, L. & J.G. Stickley, Stickley Brothers, Roycroft, Limbert, Herter Brothers, and Kimbel & Cabus, includes a rare work cabinet and early Grueby tile-top table by the firm of Gustav Stickley and two fine reticulated Art Nouveau pieces by Charles Rohlfs. Art glass by Tiffany Studios, Durand, Steuben, Daum, Galle and Lobmeyr, among others. Hammered copper by Dirk Van Erp, Roycroft and Gustav Stickley, silver by Shreve and Jarvie. Color woodblock prints by Gustave Baumann and William Rice. Studio Ceramics: Saturday, March 2nd, immediately following Early 20th C. 165 lots: From the collections of Sybil and Edward Petersen and of Ms. Lee Baldwin come a special group of works from Otto and Gertrud Natzler, Antonio Prieto, Harrison McIntosh, Glen Lukens, Cliff Lee, Hideaki Miyamura, Toshiko Takaezu, Erni and Rose Cabat, and many more. This auction has a particularly fine and comprehensive group of studio ceramics, says Suzanne Perrault, partner and co-director of the 20th C. department. We got the opportunity to handle the works of many of today's finest potters, such as Cliff Lee, Hideaki Maruyama, Jenny McCurdy and Marvin Blackmore. What an absolute treat.
