General Store Advertising

Miller & Miller?s General Store Advertising features exclusively the collection of long-time collector Don Titherington. Over the course of decades Don curated the best examples he could find. Don collected what he calls ?the big three?: porcelain, tin, and paper under glass. He upgraded certain signs once, twice, even three times before finding the examples you?ll find in the catalogue. Don used a very specific set of criteria when adding a sign to his collection. His qualifiers included advertisements containing outmoded prices, slogans and captions, products (or over-sized products) featured, and more. The Titherington Collection was decades in the making - a treasure trove for any advertising collector. Genres include tobacco, soda, dairy, gas/oil and more. The collection spans the colourful lithographs of the Victorian era through to the embossed tin soda verticals of the 1950s and 1960s.
