General Store Advertising

Miller & Miller?s General Store Advertising features exclusively the collection of long-time collector Don Titherington. Over the course of decades Don curated the best examples he could find. Don collected what he calls ?the big three?: porcelain, tin, and paper under glass. He upgraded certain signs once, twice, even three times before finding the examples you?ll find in the catalogue. Don used a very specific set of criteria when adding a sign to his collection. His qualifiers included advertisements containing outmoded prices, slogans and captions, products (or over-sized products) featured, and more. The Titherington Collection was decades in the making - a treasure trove for any advertising collector. Genres include tobacco, soda, dairy, gas/oil and more. The collection spans the colourful lithographs of the Victorian era through to the embossed tin soda verticals of the 1950s and 1960s. As you scroll, take time to enjoy the art of great advertising, as Don did for all those years
