September 2025 Premier Auction

Welcome to the September 2025 Premier Auction! This auction brings together an outstanding range of art, cultural material, and natural history, with significant highlights across every category. Leading the offerings is a monumental 99.5-inch antique narwhal tusk, among the largest recorded examples to appear at auction in recent decades. It is joined by a grouping of substantial Alaskan gold nuggets, the largest weighing nearly 6.5 troy ounces, and an Ice Age walrus skull displaying remarkable mineralized coloration. The fine art selection is particularly strong, featuring three original paintings by Sydney Laurence, two works by Eustace Ziegler, and a large mural of Denali by Ernest Robertson. Additional highlights include seven works by Rie Mu?oz?among them an important early painting on Sitka blacktail deer hide circa 1960?along with serigraphs and exhibition posters; eight works by Dale DeArmond, including original carved wood printing blocks and rare early editions; and five bronze sculptures by Jacques and Mary Regat. Important works by George Ahgupuk, James Kivetoruk Moses, James Belcher, Steve Gordon, and Daniel DeRoux further underscore the breadth of the offering. Alaska Native and ethnographic works are represented in depth, including a late 19th-century Chugach wood bowl, early Yup?ik objects, a wide range of walrus ivory carvings, basketry, and baleen pieces?highlighted by a museum-quality 11-inch basket?as well as an extensive group of Greenland Inuit tupilaks. The sale also includes several Tlingit silver cuffs, a solid 14k gold Tlingit cuff, Tlingit and Aleut baskets, and a broad selection of Navajo rugs and jewelry. Fine jewelry and timepieces form another notable category, with two Oscar Friedman sapphire and diamond creations, both GIA-certified and appraised at nearly $100,000, together with a Rolex Submariner and several distinctive gold nugget-set watches. Rounding out the catalog are unique historical items such as a Jonas Brothers polar
