On February 11th, Miller & Miller will auction a rare Canadian collection of Martin Brothers Pottery from London & Southall England. This online only sale features the collection of Peter and Francis Beulah.
The Martin Brothers (Wallace, Walter, Edwin and Charles) ran a pottery from 1873 until 1914 producing an incredible range of unique art or studio pottery.
Their Martinwares were inspired by Gothic and Renaissance revival movements, Japanese designs, and later Art Nouveau. In the 1880s, these styles combined in interesting and innovative ways as the Martins began producing wares in the form of grotesque animals and caricatures of people.
This auction contains 17 lots of Martin Brothers pottery. Highlights include a very special Wally bird tobacco jar, face jug, and vases decorated with an impressive array of beautiful flora and fauna designs.
This is a rare opportunity for Canadian collectors and collectors abroad to put a great piece of Martinware on their shelves. Don’t miss it!
