Modern Collector
Christie's is delighted to present Modern Collector: Design and Tiffany, an online auction of more than 200 lots that showcase the extraordinary breadth of creators and innovators working across the last 150 years.
At the heart of the sale is a remarkable selection of Tiffany Studios lighting and metalworks, which sit in dialogue with Secessionist furnishings by Josef Hoffmann, Joseph Maria Olbrich and Josef Urban. Modern industrial design by Marcel Breuer, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, and Charles and Ray Eames sparks conversation with French ceramics by Félix Aubert and Marcel Prunier, or Maurice Gensoli and André Plantard for Sèvres.
Contemporary perspectives on sculptural furniture come to the fore with works by Franz West, Wendell Castle, Ron Arad, and Nacho Carbonell. Meanwhile, designers Hervé Van Der Straeten and Philip and Kelvin Laverne reveal that in the world of interiors, there is always more than meets the eye. Highlighted collections of the sale include Property from the Ronald and Madelyn Katz Collection, including two early American glass windows. Elaine: The Collection of Elaine Wynn presents William Morris and Dale Chihuly glass sculptures, contemporary porcelain by Hattori Makiko and sculptural furniture by Harush Shlomo. The Edlis | Neeson Collection continues with Scandinavian silver by Gundorf Albertus and Johan Rhode for Georg Jensen, amongst more.
Select highlights can be previewed at the Rockefeller Centre galleries, the remaining lots will be available for viewings at our Brooklyn warehouse upon appointment only. .
