The Cannon Collection - Part I
Bonhams is delighted to offer The Cannon Collection at New Bond Street this April. This auction spans a plethora of collecting genres and demonstrates a discerning eye: Egyptian and Roman antiquities and Plantagenet coinage rub shoulders with 19th century and Modern British artists such as Philip Alexius de László, Hilda Fearon and Ken Howard. A particular passion was early English glass. The scope of the collection is exceptionally and unusually broad, with a particular interest in enamelled glass from the renowned Beilby family workshop in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and gilded glass from the London atelier of James Giles. Jacobite engraved glass and sweetmeat glasses were also a particular focus.
Each piece has been chosen for its quality and character, and Bonhams is delighted to bring the selection to auction this Spring in two parts. All lots will be available to view at our New Bond Street galleries from Friday 10th April.
