Toy Auction - Session Two

PLANES, TRAINS, AUTOMOBILES, AND MORE On September 6 and 7, 2013, Pook & Pook, Inc. will begin the fall season with a two-day toy sale focusing on cast iron items. Included are a large group of mechanical and still banks, such as the Giant in Tower, Boys stealing Watermelon, Circus, Dark Town Battery, Merry-Go-Round, and Boy Scout camp, just to name a few. Horse drawn toys are plentiful with many different examples by Dent, Hubley, Wilkins, Kenton & Shimmer and others. There is a nice Carpenter three-story burning house with firemen and rescue women. An impressive selection of cast iron fire-related toys are offered throughout the sale. Other cast iron toys include a N.N. Hill Brass Co. double ripper sled toy, a Vindex motorcycle delivery, and a Niederst steam shovel. Various Arcade, Dent, Hubley, and Kenton cast iron toys are featured throughout the sale comprising dump trucks, buses, steam shovels, etc. There are many early American tin toys including pull toys and a clockwork train. Among the trains, there are several massive live steam engines and tenders as well as live steam boilers and accessories. A selection of German toys including a Carette limousine, a Marklin painted tin battleship 'Maine', a wind-up carousel, pull toys, etc. are offered. A group of cast iron, pressed steel, and tin airplane toys will cross the block on the second day of the sale. These include items by Kenton, Kilgore, Dent, Hubley, etc. Many Steiff animals and a selection of dolls round out the sale.
