New Orleans Auction Fall Sale: Day 1 of 3

New Orleans Auction Galleries is pleased to announce our Oct. 4-6 Estates Auction with nearly 1,600 lots of antique to fine contemporary art, sculpture, furniture, lighting, silver, clocks, estate jewelry, designer furs, carpets, Asian decorative arts and more. The sale includes important 19th century American furniture by makers such as John Henry Belter, J. & J.W. Meeks, Herter Brothers, Alexander Roux and Charles Baudouine. The sale also includes a large collection of Baltimore and Baltimore style silver ranging from the mid-19th to mid-20th centuries and an extensive collection of Tiffany flatware. Among the fine art offerings are a variety of Southern and regional paintings by William Aiken Walker, George Louis Viavant, George Rodrigue, James Michalopoulos, Alexander John Drysdale, Jacques Amans, Clementine Hunter, Alberta Kinsey, Jean-Joseph Vaudechamp and Walter Anderson. The sale also includes works by significant British and Continental artists, such as Thomas Cooper-Gotch, Augustin-Marie-Paul Marcotte de Quivieres, Benjamin Leader, Thomas Hewes Hinckley, Arthur Wardle and Arthur F. Tait. Contemporary art includes works by Thomas Downing, Pedro Friedeberg, Albert Watson and Jacob Lawrence.
