In addition, we supplement the descriptions with codes that alert you to the general nature of the object. * All material with actual damage to the surface (not to the mount) will have a prefix "D," as in [D3]. In a few cases where the damage does not affect normal viewing it will be mentioned but the Prefix will not be given. Some damage is quite minor, but it will be mentioned anyway. * Material that was originally well produced and has been preserved in that condition will have a grade of [4]. We do not use this category lightly. * Material that was a little less fine to begin with, but still has an attractive presence and no distracting problems, will have a grade of [3] * Typical collectible material with some fading, minor wear and soil (but no actual damage) will be graded [2].
