Featuring Items from the Estate of Cornelia Ames Abbot of Concord Massachusetts, the Ames family are direct descendants of Rufus King (1755 –1827) an American lawyer, politician, and diplomat. He was a delegate for Massachusetts to the Continental Congress. He also attended the Constitutional Convention and was one of the signers of the United States Constitution. King represented New York in the US Senate, served as Minister to Britain, and was the Federalist candidate for both Vice President (1804, 1808) and President of the United States (1816). Important items will include Georgian silver and glassware belonging to Rufus King, ancestral portraits, jewelry, ceramics. Along with fine items from a Farm Street Dover, MA residence, Chinese and Asian decorative arts items from the Brookline, MA home of an advanced collector.
