Welcome to Fellows? first specialist sale of Silver & Plated Ware. Our highlights include a wonderful example of the Arts & Crafts style from one of its most iconic pioneers. Lot 164, a presentation trowel, is by the founder of the Artificers? Guild Nelson Ethelred Dawson (1859-1941). Working with his wife, Edith, they have an impressive CV when it comes to these items including making the trowel used by Queen Victoria to lay the V&A foundation stone in 1899. Those with an eye for Arts & Crafts may also be interested in the tea service by Robert Stone (Lot 168) or the Saxon drinking horn by A.E. Jones (lot 149). Samson Mordan collectors or those looking for a piece of history can look forward to our collection of propelling pencils and pens, along with the various vesta cases on offer in our novelties section. In particular is Lot 590, a beautifully enamelled vesta case depicting a pack of hunting hounds. Continuing the theme of big name designers, we are very pleased to be offering a comprehensive canteen by Tiffany & Co, including nut crackers, bouillon spoons and oyster forks, all in an impressive oak case (Lot 364). Our flatware section is not without its own highlights, with three eighteenth century mote spoons and a curious folding Trefid spoon.
