Fine Asian Decorative Art
Including two major collections:
From the private collection of Commander B.C. Tuson and his daughter-in-law, Victoria Susan Brain. Commander Tuson always had an interest in antiques from a very early age and started concentrating more on Asian antiques when he was posted to Singapore as a Naval Officer in the early 1970s. Throughout his naval tours and in later years, Commander Tuson?s interest in all types of Asian antiquities continued to grow, encompassing Chinese, Japanese and South East Asian antiques. In conjunction with his daughter-in-law, his passion for Oriental art and antiques continued up until his death in 2013. This is a portion of the objects collected over the last 50 years from the combined ?Tuson-Brain? collection.
And from one of New Zealand?s oldest collections, featuring a range of rare Chinese famille rose porcelains of superb quality. The collection comprises Canton famille rose, rose medallion, armorial and Islamic market porcelains of the 19th Century.
