Civil War and military including: RARE M1855 Sharps, one of 600 US martially marked carbines manufactured. A fine Presentation grade officers sword "Presented to Edward Lounsbery First Lt. Company B, 179th Regiment. New York Volunteers by the members of his company Petersburgh, Virginia. February 10, 1865." Civil War Tower Enfield, lock-plate dated 1860, Two Extremely RARE English "Ducks-Foot" Pistols, used by British Naval personnel during the Napoleonic Wars, both are high-grade and in superb condition. Just arrived is a very fine Civil War Whitney in the same family since the 1890's. A large and fine selection of Ethnographic Arts & Artifacts from MD and NY collections features American Indian, Pre-Columbian, African and Oceanic pieces. From the Americas there is a fine Haida bowl in the form of a seal, pre-historic pottery, and Woodlands Indian items and more. Pre-Columbian items; A good Chimu-Inca woven Mantle with stylized warriors holding decapitated heads, 900-1300 AD, an exceptional Mayan Palma Celt, Chontal Mask and other items. Oceanic art from New Guinea and other Indonesian Islands with some nice Ancestor and Fertility Figures, War clubs from Fiji and the Solomon?s, a superb Dayak door with an image of ASO, 19th century swing with four figures and two Sepik River suspension hooks. African Art has a good selection of Masks form various tribes in the DRC and other countries, Staffs of Office, stools and other figural items. Americana and Decorative includes a C-1825 Secretary, originally from Baltimore, Folk art painted chest, period lighting, miniature paintings, nice smalls, a selection of Mettlach and other 19th century steins and much more.
