Antique & Modern Jewellery

Our November auction of Antique & Modern Jewellery can be described by two key words: quality and quantity! Although this could be said of any one of our jewellery auctions, this description seems particularly apt when considering this month?s offerings. This catalogue?s pages are adorned with an array of glittering treasures and exquisite jewels. From the rich glow of garnets and topaz, to the unmistakable sparkle of diamonds, there is something to delight the eye at every turn. Our front cover this month boasts a particularly striking design; the regal blue and green tones of the strutting peacock. The beautiful emerald and diamond cluster ring (lot 351) is certainly something to proud of: the 3.58ct cushion-shape emerald is accompanied by a report stating that it is of Colombian origin. The accompanying sapphire and diamond cluster ring (lot 412) is an equally impressive piece. This oval-shape sapphire has a stunning purple-blue tone, enclosed within the dazzling old-cut diamond surround. The soft, warm, natural hues of autumn are a prominent feature throughout this catalogue. We have a selection of beautiful insect jewellery, including a late 19th century gold, diamond, tiger?s-eye and enamel bee brooch (lot 94). The intricate detailing of the black enamel and rose-cut diamond stripe body, and the red gem-set eyes, give this bug a wonderfully life-like appearance! Other autumnal offerings include an interesting late 19th century moss agate and garnet necklace (lot 122), and an eye-catching silver and gold topaz and diamond cluster ring (lot 93). For classic, timeless appeal, look no further than our back cover. This features two single-stone diamond rings of remarkable quality. The rectangular-cut diamond (lot 262) is near perfection, with a very bright and lively stone and very slight inclusions. Similarly, the 18ct gold diamond single-stone ring (lot 364) weighs an impressive 6.04cts.
