Old Masters and 19th C. Art

his auction focuses on old master paintings of the 16th-18th centuries, next to numerous Russian works of the 19th century and paintings of the early 20th century. ?The Sacrifice of Isaac? by Giulio Cesare Procaccini is an early highlight from the period around 1600. Works from the 17th and 18th century include a ?Flower Still Life? by Christian Berentz and a ?Fruit Still Life? by Johann Daniel Bager. The gems of the 19th and early 20th centuries are works by Franz Roubaud, Hugo Ungewitter and Konstantin Makovsky. Brilliantly executed fruit and flower still lifes, atmospheric landscapes, expressive portraits and hunting still lifes in the tradition of Dutch painting are just a few works of this diverse auction with a focus on paintings from the 16th- 18th centuries. A highlight of this varied collection is certainly the pair of flower still lifes by Christian Berenzt, who was a master in the depiction of surfaces and details and whose works achieve maximum prices at international auctions.
