Japanese Woodcuts and Works of Art

This auction is exclusively dedicated to the Arts of Japan. It features a broad selection of woodblock prints of the Edo and Meiji Period from an old Viennese collection. These ?Images of the Floating World? (jap. Ukiyo-e), to which the title of the auction refers, are best represented in the famous series of ?36 Views of the Mount Fuji? by Katsushika Hokusai. This sale also includes a Japanese scroll painting by Nagasawa Rosetsu from the late 18th C. depicting two playing puppies. Furthermore fine ceramics and works of art, like a Kajikawa family lacquer Inro, are offered.
